Replacement media for the 1.0 cubic foot Pro-Ox Lite Filters with 9x48 Tank:

  • 12 lbs of Gravel
  • 10 lbs of Turbidex
  • 5/8 CF of Pro-Ox Lite
NOTE: Make sure your tank size is 9" x 48"

Pro-OX is a black, granular, naturally mined filter media composed of high purity manganese dioxide. Unlike coated filter media such as Birm or manganese greensand, Pro-OX is a solid manganese dioxide offering higher flow rates and faster reaction times. 

Media is added in this order:  Gravel,  Pro-OX Lite, Turbidex.   Turbidex sits on top of the Pro-OX and pre-filters heavy rust and sediment particles and aids in the process.

Pro-OX Lite can be subsituted for applications calling for Greensand Plus.

Pro-OX Lite (Pyrolox Advantage) 

Higher content MnO2 coating (12.5%) than Katalox Light or Greensand.  More porous, works better.

Light Weight - providing significant savings on backwash water
Filtration of sand, sediment and suspended solids
Highest efficiency removal capacity of Iron, Manganese and Hydrogen sulfide
Removes arsenic if iron is present
Use aeration, chlorine or ozone if manganese or hydrogen sulfide is present
Peroxide injection is not recommended with manganese dioxide filter media of any brand
Can be used as replacement for greensand or katalox light (and works with potassium permanganate if desired)
Low operational costs
Good for 5 to 7 years before requiring replacement
Backwash flow rate 12 GPM per square foot.
