Pro-OX Lite 7500-Rev4 Advanced Iron Filter Systems Remove Iron and Manganese from Well Water

  • The most effective filters for removing iron, rust, and sediment from well water.
  • Corrosion Proof Ceramic disc auto backwash valve lasts years longer than standard piston-type control valves and can backwash over 150,000 cycles.
  • It uses advanced Pro-OX Lite iron filter media, manufactured in Texas.  We recommend Pro-OX Lite on the larger iron filters as it is lighter and backwashes with less water than the standard Pro-OX media.
  • It easily removes up to 5.0 PPM of iron and 0.2 PPM of manganese.
  • For higher levels we recommend ozone upgrade option, or chlorine or peroxide injection ahead of iron filter.
  • Powerful U.S. made ozone upgrade option improves oxidation during regeneration cycle, killing odors and iron bacteria if present.
  • We recommend the ozone option for higher levels of iron, sulfur odors (hydrogen sulfide), and manganese over 0.2 PPM.
  • Iron bacteria can also be eliminated with the ozone option.
  • Backwashes automatically on days you choose.  More efficient backwashes that use less water.
  • Automatic program recall after power outages and maximum day regeneration functions
  • Exceptional High Flow Rate with noticeable noise reduction during regeneration.

  • Frequently Asked Questions:

Why would I need the optional Rusco spindown prefilter?

The spindown filter will remove any sand or grit that may be in your well water and protect the iron filter. Even though it is not affected by sand like other piston and seal type control valves, it is good to keep sand out of your Pro-OX iron filter.

Another advantage is that it can be used to sanitize your Pro-OX iron filter with chlorine bleach if you have iron bacteria.  By adding a cup of bleach once a year to the spindown filter, and turning the water back on, the Pro-OX media can be cleaned and sanitized. It only takes a few minutes and no chlorine gets in the house, as the filter is then put into backwash after sanitizing.

Can I use the optional air charger kit?

This size does not have that option, tank is needs to be 44" in height minimum.

Why use the optional ozone generator?

The optional ozone upgrade allows ozone gas to be injected in the air cycle rather than just air.  This helps reduce iron and sulfur bacteria and provides much higher levels of oxidation to rapidly eliminate sulfur odors and help the Pro-OX filter media remove higher levels of iron and manganese.  The powerful ozone generator includes a built-in air dryer for long life and produces 1 gram of higher purity ozone per hour, which is much higher than most ozone systems of this type.

Can I install this system myself or do I need a plumber?

Most of our customers do install themselves, however it is easy for any plumber or handyman to install. Ordering the optional flex lines makes it very easy to hook up to your piping.

    What maintenance is required?

If you use the optional air charger kit, the air injector will need to be cleaned once or twice a year.  This takes about 10 minutes and requires no special tools. There is no other maintenance required.

What if I don't use the air charger option, what maintenance is required?

There is little or no maintenance required.  If your water has iron bacteria you can add some chlorine bleach in the optional spindown filter and turn the water back on and clean the Pro-OX media with chlorine, once or twice a year. This will remove any iron bacteria film and restore the Pro-OX media.  Many customers however go years with no maintenance.   Eventually after 6 to 10 years the Pro-OX filter media can be dumped out and replaced, however we have many customers using it for over 12 years so far and it still works fine.

Will this affect my water pressure?

No. The pressure drop at maximum flow rate is around 10 PSI.  At regular flow rates such as used in the home, the pressure drop is 1 or 2 PSI and is not noticeable.

What does Backwash Flow Rate Mean?

Your well produces a maximum amount of gpm. Many wells are less than 10 gpm, and you size the filter to match your available flow rate.

I have questions, can I get help when ordering or when installing it?

    Sizing Guide

ModelNumber of Bathrooms in HomeFlow RateBackwash Flow RateDimensions
    0.5 CF16 GPM4.0 GPMDiameter: 6"  Height: 42.5"
    0.75 CF1 - 28 GPM5 GPMDiameter: 8" Height: 52.5"
    1.0 CF2 - 310 GPM7 GPMDiameter: 9" Height: 56.5"
    1.5 CF3 - 412 GPM10 GPMDiameter: 10" Height: 62.5"

Flow Rate: Refers to maximum recommended Gallons Per Minute ("GPM") which means how fast the water is flowing. The 1.0 CF model works best for most homes (such as 2 -3 bathroom homes with 2 - 6 persons).  Higher flow rates are possible through these systems, this is just meant as a guide or suggested use.

"CF" refers to the amount of filter media blend in cubic feet. A 1.5 CF has 1.5 cubic feet of Pro-OX iron filter media (Pro-OX, Zeolite and filter gravel).

Removal Rate: Easily removes up to 5 PPM iron, .2 PPM manganese, much higher removal rates possible with pre-chlorination or pre-aeration or by setting the Rev4 control valve to be an air-charger type valve.  This can easily be done by changing the settings, see manual for more information.

Iron levels over 5 PPM, or when manganese or other conditions such low pH, high levels of sulfur odor or iron bacteria or tannins, please note that additional treatment such as chlorine, peroxide, or aeration may be needed.

Manganese removal: when manganese is present over 0.5 PPM, we recommend a chlorine feed. A chlorine feed with a contact/retention tank allowing 30 seconds of time after the chlorine has been injected, followed by the Pro-OX filter systems does a GREAT job on removing manganese. A carbon filter can be used after the Pro-OX system to remove any residual chlorine, so you get all the benefits of chlorination without having any chlorine in the house water
