  • Unlike carbon cartridges which can trap sediment and dirt, these systems automatically backwash out trapped sediment, alleviating pressure drop.

    Higher flow rates are possible if contact time is not an issue.  

    For example to remove chlorine tastes and odors on city water, 5 to 8 gallons per minute per cubic foot of carbon works fine depending on chlorine levels. 

    However if you are trying to remove a particular chemical such as PFOS or benzene, lower flow rates with longer contact time are recommended.  

    Add KDF cubes to extend life of carbon and achieve higher flow rates.
