Spin Down Filter Cleans Garden Well Water
Periodically we donate water filters and/or offer technical support free of charge to non-profit organizations and charities. Recently we had the pleasure of helping the folks at the Free Farm Project in San Francisco use a Spin Down Filter to clean up sediment from their well water source!
The goal of The Free Farm is to grow organic produce, foster garden education, and build community. Founded in January 2010, the Free Farm is located on a 1/2 acre lot on a parcel loaned by the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in San Francisco, California. Since 2010, they have built a farm, grown and given away over 9,000 pounds of fresh organic produce. They also teach gardening and urban homesteading workshops, and host community, school, and religious groups.
The coordinator of the project, Dennis Rubenstein, more fondly known as Tree, reached out to us because the farm was having trouble with their sediment filter constantly being clogged. After consulting with him on how best to solve his sediment problem, we recommended that a Rusco Spin Down Filter would be the best way to filter out the fine particles that were clogging his filter. After learning more about the goals of their project, we decided to donate the filter to help support their cause:
“We are dedicated to aiding the food security and health of our community through garden and food education, as well as the growth, harvest, and dispersal of organic backyard and community grown produce. Besides growing food and educating people about gardening, we want to create an oasis from the concrete jungle. The garden is also making a stand for preserving what little open space is left in the Mission. “
Consistent with our mission to provide the highest quality water at the lowest price to our customers, we also like to support those working to grow healthy communities, and nothing grows healthy food better than clean water!
“Thank you so much for the donation of the water filter for our water system. We really appreciate the support of businesses like yours and all the technical help you have provided.”
