We're pleased to announce that our new Pro-OX manganese dioxide filter media has been certified by NSF. “What does that mean?” you ask?
“The NSF mark is your assurance that the product has been tested by one of the most respected independent certification organizations in existence today for health and safety effects. It is valued by consumers, manufacturers, retailers and regulatory agencies worldwide. The NSF certification mark on a product means that the product complies with all standard requirements. NSF conducts periodic unannounced inspections and product testing to verify that the product continues to comply with the standard.”

Our Pro-OX filter media can be used in any application where MangOXTM, PyroloxTM, or FiloxTM would be used. The Pro-OX media goes through a very selective screening process, so that only the purest, most porous, most active minerals end up in the final product. The increased porosity and activity of our Pro-OX media means you can use a smaller filter system and still filter iron and manganese faster and use less backwash water than other manganese dioxide media. In our experience, we've found Pro-OX to work faster, be more reactive, and allow for higher flow rates and removal rates than other media on the market.
Unlike coated filter media like BirmTM and Greensand,TM, Pro-OX is solid manganese dioxide. Pro-OX works by adsorbing oxidized iron, manganese, and sulfide into both the internal and external pores in the media. It uses an oxidation-reduction filtration process similar to GreensandTM, but at a much higher level of performance, and with a much longer lifespan due to its solid form and higher purity.
Currently you can try our Pro-OX manganese dioxide media when you order a Pro-OX Iron Filter system, but in the near future you will be able to purchase individual bags of Pro-OX media in our online store. Until then, keep an eye out – once you've seen the Pro-OX difference, we're sure you'll be as pleased as we are!
